During the pandemic, LBEP pivoted its focus to address the real time needs of the community by launching a microgrant program on June 1, 2020. LBEP provided funding to small businesses impacted by COVID-19, that had not benefited from PPP and EIDL and were operating in areas often underserved by business support programs.
COVID resiliency capital and financial training was provided to 135 Long Beach small business owners in traditionally under-resourced areas. This was made possible thanks to funding from Wells Fargo Bank, Union Bank, and Citibank, with their commitments to help minority and underserved businesses in Long Beach.
LBEP convened a strategic planning session in June 2022 with MIG, the LBEP Board of Directors, and our civic, institutional, community organizations, nonprofits and private enterprise to identify the path for the next three years.
